Northeast US bros should be checking milkweeds for Monarch butterfly caterpillars right now. They are everywhere.
Found 5 so far, but hopefully many more in the field by my house
for what purpose should we be finding these caterpillars? i mean yeah i remember it being cool to see them turn into a chrysalis and come out of it back in 4th grade, but is there any reason to be taking them out of the wild?

Find them because they're nifty.
I wouldn't want to take them away from where they are because I'd get too nervous about giving them the right conditions. It's just cool to find them.

>They are everywhere.
>only located on milkweed plants
>only where milkweed plants grow

Take them from areas where they might be mowed down or weedwacked. Save the butterfly because no one ever suspects THE BUTTERFLY.

Fucking this desu - Monarchs are actually in serious trouble now, since milkweed is being eradicated on a large scale since it's, well...a weed.
