Thanks dude I went to the vet and he told me the same so I guess I should take here of him till he can fly
is it injured or did you kidnap a healthy baby? either way you'll kill it
>>2463746
I found it on the patio dude and my dog try to eat it so I'm going to take care of him till the The it can fly
>>2463764
they're ground nesters and you might as well just let your dog eat it
Some birds require very specific food and care. No idea about this species, perhaps there is some local bird or animal organization to care about such cases?
>>2463766
Damn dude im not gonna let my dog eat the the poor thing are you crazy
>>2463780
I will try to find somebody that can take care of him but it's late so maybe tomorrow morning thanks for the advice btw
nightjars are carnivorous/insect eaters like frogmouths and other similar species. it's one of their defense mechanisms to stay as still as possible to blend into their environment
just put him back outside in a secluded safe space and he'll take off once it's nighttime
It's weird that he took it to a vet and the vet just let him go home with it. That's it, OP?
It's an adult night at and if it was on your patio it may have hit your window and got stunned.

I'm from Mexico so shit should not be a surprise we don't have strict laws for animals the vet just ask me where I found it and told me that I should take care of the bird. But you are telling me that it's an adult then I should just let it go
Literally no one can take care of this bird, let it go. It eats insects while flying and is nocturnal. Unless it has an obvious injury, like is trying to fly but a wing is fucked up then take it to a wildlife shelter.

I put it on the park and he stay there in the grass. I'm in my home now so I hope he does well. Thanks guys for helping me with this little bird.
This was the Last pic of him before I let him there

Thank you for not being a fucking retard like 90% of this board and actually setting the animal free. You did good OP.
I love nightjars by the way. There's something uncanny and almost nightmarish about them.
>>2463956
you did good anon
>>2463956
Good job anon. At least you tried with the vet and the next best thing was to let it go.

Whiporwill or nighthawk. They eat insects and drink water.

I've seen one of these recently. My cat left it on the porch a few months ago.
