how does /an/ feel about pet instagrams? is it weird to get a social media following for your dog/cat? do people make money promoting stuff with them?
When taking 20 selfies a day just doesn't cut it anymore

Yes.
I think it's fine if it's not just cute pictures. I follow a lot of service/working dogs in training. "Gunner the Dutchie", for example, is a search and rescue dog in training, and I can't recall ever seeing advertisements or product placement. Animal accounts can be unique insights into the lives and training of working dogs, and it inspires me to do new things with my dog, as well.
It depends on what's being done with it.
Social media is just shit in general

This. Social media has done nothing good for the world.

I don't give a fuck as long as I get my daily dose of cute rabbit pics.
I follow a bunch of breeders, "fit dogs" and "working dogs" instagrams. They're sexy as fuck.
I work in a dog daycare and one of the dogs is "Instagram famous." He's got like 25K followers and does tons of sponsored posts so yeah, I assume his owners make money

The Kot Blini/Jazz cat instagram is fine.
This girl I know has an IG for her dog and it's all captioned in first person. It makes me furiously angry whenever I look at it.
