What is the point of wildlife rehabilitation? Unless its an endangered species because of humans, its death is just a part of nature and the ecosystem. in a sense its supposed to die, so what's the point in trying to save it? what does it achieve?
compassion

compassion unto what, and for what purpose?

If you have to ask, you're not gonna understand the answer.

People like their gardens of peace and healing. And people emphasize with mammals the most out of all other creatures. So helping mammals gives humans a good feeling.
> in a sense its supposed to die
Humans utilize selection processes different than the strict cruelty of nature. Helping wild mammals out is more therapeutic than being
Humans also deal with information asymmetry. A lot of accusations of hypocrisy could be solved by the simple realization that humans have different amounts of information, even in regards to the same event. We're not gods. And since we're not gods, we're poor humans forced to make decisions on probabilistic grounds.
You'd have to be an idiot to disparage people for daring to maintain gardens. Far better gardens than tragic utopias by men too clever to see their own limitations.

>its death is just a part of nature and the ecosystem.
Not when the animal is shot/ hit by a car/ poisoned/ hurt by invasive species humans introduced into the ecosystem etc.
It's only a small attempt to fix problems we caused. Also, yes, compassion.

You know what else is autistic?
Pointing out attributes of autism, when you know damn well the term is commonly thrown around here as part of board culture.
Now quit being a faggot.
>inb4 you point out that faggots aren't typically judgemental, or any other "well achtuallly" bullshit
>in a sense its supposed to die
God isn't real you queer

It is a thing for warning you much like seeing tattoos. Stay away from people who run any sort of animal shelter. They are not right in the head. They have holes in their life they are trying to fill. The big one is normally a lack of children, but not always.
>>2458919
They are harming themselves via misplaced compassion. Instead of raising a family and spend all their time and resources to that end, they end up helping animals instead. That is a dead end which can lead to disaster.

T. a faggot who can't possibly imagine that another person would want different things than they do.

Sweeping generalizations and assumptions show a distinct lack of intelligence

It's not like these animals are getting hunted by a fox and someone stops the fox to bring the prey to rehab. People bring animals to rehabs when their pet kills the mother, their car hit it, their lawnmower destroys a nest, etc. They are in their predicament largely due to human interference, so what's wrong with a little more human interference? If it wasn't meant to live, they will die. Rehabs aren't miracle workers.
It makes us feel good about doing the right thing.
We spend the vast amount of healthcare costs paying for end of life care for people who are only going to live another year, month or day. Should we stop paying for their care? Serious question.
To answer your original question, my wildlife rehab only helps out non invasive species. Helping our ecosystem return to its natural state. They don't help starlings and the like.

At least 75% of the animals I get have been injured or orphaned by human activities of some kind. I work strictly with mammals. I don't know what the water fowl or raptor rehabbers run into.
>>2459046
>Instead of raising a family and spend all their time and resources to that end
...almost all of my local rehabbers are middle aged women whose children are grown. There are definitely younger people who are interested, but few have the time or money so it's dominated by married older women who can afford to stay home.

This is why you euthanize high systemizers.
I worked for a raptor rehabilitation center back in university. The vast majority, like over 90% of the birds that came there were injured by something directly related to humans. Thus, it is our responsibility to help them recover, because if humans didn't exist the bird would not have been hurt. Which fits in with your cold logic.
Also, the people I worked with there weren't crazy. They were either university students or people with families.
