For a next time, the easiest way to catch a bird indoors is to throw a sheet on it.

Also if you have large space and he is flying too high: shadow all the windows exept one and turn off the lights. Let him alone and he would find a way out himself when he calms a bit.

Funny. My outdoor cat rarely caught birds. When she would catch one she would bring inside if I didn't stop her. I would check the two she brought me for wounds never saw any and let them go. She loved killing rodents. She ate them all but the guts and tail. She left that on my porch.
