Have you looked into industrial diving? Like, diving down to the ocean floor to drill for like oil rigs and shit? I've heard those kinds of jobs pay really well because of how dangerous they are. You do have to stop after like 5 years though because repeatedly exposing yourself to such extreme conditions for such a long time does a number on your body, but I'm pretty sure they give you lots of benefits (including vacations). Also, I've heard that these jobs have resources that aren't available to the scientific community because of how expensive they are.
