Can anyone identify this? The tree itself first gave just this summer, whereas past summers it was maturing. It took about a month and a half this time around for it to get to this point
Reverse image search gives me Persian lime but that's definitely a no-no. Geographic location is Southern Ontario if that helps narrow down the search.
Definitely has a nutty smell, but hints of citrus in there too, the insides were stiff hard whites with juices around them, and a half-a-centimeter shell of.. something. (Similar to an avocado's structure, minus the giant seed in the middle)
The white center looked like it was developing a scatter of tiny seeds as well
Thanks in advance!
The insides (yellowed pretty quickly), and was pretty leaky with fluids.

Forgot pic
dunno but all the crappy citrus could be boiled in sugar syrup and canned like that for the pies later.

Sounds scrumptious, at second glance, the countertop is now stained in orange-yellow. Possible giveaway that it's acidity could mean it's a citrus for sure, I need more closure than just crappy citrus though, help a fella out /an/!
Bumping for crappy citrus identity

It's an unripe lemon

Quince
It's a young fruit from a silk floss tree. Don't eat it.

oh it's definitely a killer preserve then. I tried some out of soft but browned fruits once, really good and healthy.
(Google/georgian pine cone conserve or whole walnut whole fruit jam, same recipe and process).

Looks like a quince

Yes! That's definitely it, the tree leaves and everything looks identical, can't wait to pick these bad boys
