If in a wolf pack only the alpha male and alpha female are allowed to reproduce, does that mean that the rest of the pack remain as virgins for the rest of their lives?
I'm not sure exactly about the Alpha having a monopoly on breeding rights, but I do know that the Alpha can change depending on whether an animal gets injured, old, or diseased. So what was once a beta can at some point become an alpha. If only the Alpha were allowed to reproduce, when it died who would breed? A former beta.
Also I've seen people here challenge the Alpha/Beta dichotomy in the wild, arguing its only something that occurs in captive Wolves. But I don't really know the truth about that either.

Considering the "alphas" are the mother and father of all the other wolves, it'd be very bad if they reproduced with their kids.

In a wolf pack, only the mom and dad are allowed to reproduce. the rest of the pack are leaching child NEETS.
Really though, the kids will eventually fuck off to find other dogs to fuck, and then their kids will form a pack with them until they finally fuck off, and so on and so forth.

And also, you know, literally the guy who made up that "Alpha/Beta" thing, spent his whole life telling people he was wrong and asking his publisher to stop selling the book where he talked about this.

And when they can't find a mate or their their mate(/and litter) dies, they come back to their parents, help them raise a litter or two and leave again.

He wasn't the guy who came up with the theory, he just used the original research as a source for his book. It was only after the book had captured the public imagination that he realized that the source's method was inherently flawed. But by then, of course, it was too late to put the genie back in the bottle.

*and coined the term "alpha wolf", which is probably the whole cause of the issue to be honest. It's just such a romantic idea, the public was bound to latch onto it.

Ahhh so its kin selection as to why they dont breed this makes a lot of sense

White males in a nutshell right here.

Nope. White men are the reason for all these animals having a shit time to begin with. Shan't.
