Hope you weren't planning on sleeping tonight, because it's time for a bad taxidermy thread.

I missed these threads
some of this shit has to be purposefully crap.
it has to be.
>>2433734
Leopard is consumed by regret
these kind of threads always make me a bit sad
think of the taxidermists, they did their best, but failed anyway..
maybe it is/was their hobby... Maybe not anymore..
>>2433767
Right was made by an 18th century taxidermist who was given a lion skin but had never seen a lion in his life outside of heraldry.
Hence why it actually looks like a heraldic lion from the side.
>>2433608
This. There's a weird knot in my stomach
Im giggling like a fucking idiot at work.
I want to hire a taxidermist to do a shit job when I bag that shithead fox hanging around my property that killed my cat and harrases my chickens.
Ill keep that faggot in my house and have a giggle everyday.

Look up any 'soft mounts'. Or plushidermy.
When wolfaboos try their hands at taxidermy. I've seen maybe two good ones but no way will they hold up as long as traditional mounts.

Soft mounts are in general cancer made exclusively by DeviantArt-browsing wolfaboo teenage girls who want a wild animal to cuddle with in bed. People who make soft mounts are also infamous in the taxidermy and hunting community for constantly harassing sellers of skins, begging for lower prices because they're just poor teenage girls with sob stories about how being close to their spirit animal helps their depression or some shit. I've seen a few get pissed and actually cry sexism because some guy told them he doesn't negotiate price.
>an animal had to die for pic related
>>2435475
Tell me about it. I've sold some skins to them before.
It gives a certain well known pet fox owner/rancher a ton of business, at least. Some of these skins they are using are $500+ for raw/green skins. I've seen the same skin for ages that no one will buy since it's $600 nor commission it to be soft mounted since it's $900 mounted from what I remember. She's not the worst soft mounted maker but you don't often have much of a market for ranched foxes in the taxidermy community to begin with.
I'll slide on wild foxes and coyotes because their fur is dirt cheap but I wouldn't trust myself to even keep a properly mounted $500+ fox pelt since I'd be kicking myself if I managed to damage it. I've seen some $900-1k+ glacier wolves utterly butchered with soft mounts too.
In their actual defense, most (at least local) taxidermists are fucking garbage to begin with. Bad mounts aside I also can't stand seeing shit like a garment tanned albino coyote or something rarer like that. It's such as fucking waste of what could have been a beautiful mount but skinning out feet is too much work for some.
>>2435547
Forgot pic.
Imagine, you're walk home at night and you suddenly spot one of these. You ignore it and continue onwards, only to see another one. Feeling slightly paranoid, you look behind you only to find the one from before staring directly at you. Every time you blink, a new one appears in the direction you were facing, standing motionless.
>>2435575
Wow dude that would be very spooky, wouldn't it?

>>2435464
I don't think deer anuses possess that ability.
>>2435547
I just want to know, where the fuck do deviantart girls get all that money?
I did taxidermy myself for several years and I had no money so I used roadkill or bought frozen feeder animals from the pet store. I wouldn't even spend $50 on a skin that's just going to end up looking like shit because of my lack of skill.

>>2435691
Same way everyone else does. Money from their parents or their paycheck.
Get into sculpture and anatomical drawings. Have a billion references. Some taxidermists make their own wire frames, sculpt a skeleton and then the muscles instead of buying forms. It's a lot more work but you'll improve in numerous areas. Plus it's always kickass to see new poses aside from standing and laying down.
>>2435843
I highly doubt anybody who puts that much effort in to their vehicle would drive, or even let it sit out, in the rain or snow.

You're opinions are garbage. Most rouge taxidermy looks like shit but the same effort that goes into your 'good' taxidermy also goes into them. They are both art and it's neat as fuck to see people put them together fairly realistically.
In the end it's parts of a dead animal and at that point they don't give a shit if you throw them on a dinner plate or hang their head on the wall.
