what the fuck is this moth. I'm in Michigan and I looked through the moths common here and I couldn't find it.
It could be a Harnessed Tiger Moth.

Looks like a kind of Underwing moth. There are lots of different varieties that look very similar, so I couldn't tell you which one exactly. Look into the Catocala genus.
