Hello /an/,
Looking to identify this tree. I saw it along the trail today and I thought it looked interesting, particularly the "berries" that cover it. Anyone have any idea what it is? I tried google and the only thing I could come up with is flowering dogwood but it really doesn't look like that. I took one of the berries off, peeled the skin (which smelled something like an apple) which had a large seed hidden in it. The skin of the berry was very thin.
My main questions here are:
>wut is it
>are the berries edible?
another picture of the berries
Looks like unripe cherry. Not the eating kind of cherry, either. The ones with almost no flesh that have good flowers in spring, sure, but mostly serve as food for birds.
