Hopefully it works, I used to have a tiny bun that could crawl inside of one of those. Maybe you could also try to put some straw with the pellets, if they like peeing on that kind of material. My bun has both straw and hay in his cage cause he likes pissing on the stuff as well. It seems to work and he knows which one is the food.

My past buns also loved sweet things and the timid male bun would even bash open the cage door whenever I came by with an apple, which he wouldn't even do if he desperately wanted to go outside.
Now I got this autistic turtle bun gobbling down bok choy and coriander, but hating apples or bananas. Also, instead of going nuts whenever the thing shows up in his view, he sits next to his little food bowl, puts his paws in and stares at me like the entitled bastard he is.

Maybe you're right. That's interesting. They both love sweet fruits but when it comes to greens/veggies they have absolutely different preferences. White bun, who is a turbo autismo, isn't very enthusiastic about greens, aside from dill, for some reason. Toffee, the second, older bun, is the opposite in terms of personality -- curious explorer. adventurer and occasional insufferable but still extremely loveable bitch and bully -- and she loves all kinds of greens/veggies.

I started putting down a layer of newspaper in their hay box, then a thin layer of litter, then hay on top of that and when they pee on it the litter absorbs it all and they eat pretty much all the hay on top. The newspaper makes it very easy to dump it all out into the trash.

What do you guys feed your buns as far greens/treats? Ive been doing kale and parsely with banana and celery for treats. I read its good to change it up weekly

Yogurt covered raisins are good for small mammals and rodents. They also go apeshit for Tums, a few of the mineral hunters, regular calcium carbonate is a treat to them and helps as a calcium supplement. I made the mistake of buying a bunny without checking to see if my city has support for it. It doesn't. I wanted one since a long time, and i bought one from a breeder here who lets the rabbits in terrible condition. I don't know what to do. Nowhere here spay and neuters rabbits, showers, or even cares for them. I live in a medium-small city in bumfuck nowhere. What do?

Ok so apparently advantage II is bun-friendly and not stupidly expensive, but a lot of people say to get a recommended dosage from a rabbit savvy vet. There are no rabbit savvy vets around here(she was spayed before we got her), she was also born & raised in a lab and was used for blood test because she has low anti-bodies which is apparently rare in buns, so I've got to be extra careful

When I had a rabbit (years ago now) I read that you put a little hay in the front of their litter box because they do enjoy grazing while they do their business. So I would find a different way to offer hay to them instead of just giving them a box (like a hanging feeder) and put some in a corner of their litter box.

Found seven young rodents in the engine bay of a car bought 450 miles away and driven home. Looks like the mother was left behind.
I think they're roof rats, about two weeks old? Are they old enough to eat and shit on their own? I tried giving them sugar water and all but two seemed to like it, but those two weren't having it.

As far as I know, most buns in this thread are free-roaming and do just fine with a litter box. Of course you have to protect cables and any other stuff that sticks out because they might nibble on them, be it on purpose or by accident. My bun once accidentally bit through a cable when he tried to move it out of his way.

The litter shouldn't be too much of a problem once she gets older and more used to the house. I'm guessing most of the droppings are actually territorial and she's marking off the apartment as hers by forcing out as much litter as possible. Once her hormones calm down a bit, she shouldn't feel the need to mark her territory that much unless strangers come over or something similar happens.

I've only had experience with unneutered males regarding the territorial poops but I'm guessing it should be the same for females as well. When my bun still had his balls he would poop everywhere in the beginning and after a bit he would only poop as much when guests were over and stayed too long for his liking. He's a pretty bossy elitist bun so yours should be less or equal to him.

I know it doesn't justify the woodchips, but I'm just a broke uni student and outside of weekends and holidays I'm seldom at home with the bun. I've tried changing the bedding but the next time I came home it was just woodchips again. My mum is one of those spiritual crazies that ignore any form of scientific evidence and just believes her judgement is best and that 'uni doesn't teach me how to take care of others'(?) unlike her experience with pets does.

Basically she's just really stubborn and if I could afford to live in a bigger apartment where they would allow buns I would take him in immediately and finally try to find him a friend too. Can't help to blogpost as I'm pissed off about it as well.

Wish me luck /an/, I'm taking my guinea pig into the vet today. Recently she hasn't been acting like herself but yesterday night she stopped eating/pooping entirely. Her belly isn't inflated so I'm hoping it isn't bloat.

I have a hedgehog. I can't afford a hedgehog. He was a rescue that was going to be put down or I wouldn't have gotten one. Woke up and his face was swollen as fuck on one side. I can't afford to go see a vet and I definitely can't afford whatever treatment they'd offer. I also can't afford to have them put him down which will almost certainly be necessary. He's 6 years old and it's almost definitely cancer, it looks extremely painful.

So I'm asking. If some polysporin and basic treatment doesn't work out. Should I put him down myself? If so, what is the least cruel way of doing so? Sounds cold but it looks really painful and he's very old for a hedgehog. I was thinking maybe give him some strong sleeping pills then do it while he's out.

this is my boy, i've had him for almost 2 years now
he's a mini rex but he's quite large and long
but uh, he hates any sort of fresh fruit/vegetable and I really don't know what to do about that. I give him lots of hay and feed him a bit of pellets but he really, really likes sun dried fruit more than anything else (especially banana chips and papaya) but I really want to introduce him to fresh produce
i've tried before and he's just really indifferent towards it, does anyone else have this problem?
