Bald eagles just really like fish. Humans tend to fish a lot of them out. However, sometimes to the point where there are few to almost no fish available; especially considering for a population of eagles of which feed themselves and offspring.


But they also sometimes eat waterfowls (ducks, geese, and even swans); when they stay for a certain amount of time, before soon leaving and continuing their migration cycle.

Pretty much all raptors scavenge, even the ones bigger than the Bald Eagle like the Wedge Tailed and Harpy Eagles. You'll find animals are rarely picky about easy meals. When they can't just scavenge from humans they'll hunt.
