Ok so I'll share something I've been doing, probably one of the most autistic things I've done.
I've posted something similar in the past but this time I think it has come together way better. It's basically a list of all the known animals kept in captivity (by particulars) around the world. I only have 2300 or so species in there, I'm sure there's a lot missing.
All of the amphibians have a automatic counter headline, a duplicate check and are in alphabetic order. Others might have some features but not others, or none at all, so it's not complete in that sense. If you want to use this just for consultation be my guest. If you know of species missing, check if there's any synonym name and then see which one is the most recently updated and let me know.

If this for some reason gets popular around here I'll make efforts to try and get more people working on it.
get someone to let you use their isis/species360/zims login

Nice.
I mean, I won't bother looking at this, but still, good job.

that's more directed to private zoos though no?
bamp, if you see this list and don't understand what's going on with it leave a comment to let me know. maybe there's something i can do to make it easier to understand

Why are there only 32 mammals?
Honestly, knowing that there more than 2300 species that are used as pets is pretty sad.
Most pet owners are retards and a number this big just shows how much people just want pets for their novelty.

I'm not really into mammals, and don't know much about which are kept as pets.
More than 50% of the species in the list are either fish or arthropods, which makes sense.
But yes, most animals are kept for novelty or rarity even. Common animals that look good are often ignored for rare and bland looking animals.
I personally like animals for their appearance, behavior and life history.
