I was on a night walk recently. 2 am or so. I walk the streets at night because I'm scared of people. Some chad had two shitbull looking dogs on those long leashes that retract. They blocked my path and started barking angrily and scared the shit out of me. The guy choked up on the leash and apologized, but not before letting them bark for a good five seconds. Honestly it seemed like he did it on purpose just to fuck with me and I wanted to curse him out. But I didn't because I'm a beta.

I always tell people who have reactive dogs to walk them at night, and from what I can tell it's pretty common to do this for aggressive or reactive dogs. Maybe you should start walking early in the morning if that bugs you.

These days I just listen to music wearing big, super obvious headphones so now when kids call out to ask if they can pet my dog I just ignore them and I'm not as much of a dick because 'Oh, he's listening to music he must have not heard me'

Well, at least it helps me sleep at night. I have sent had a kid *blocks your path* yet to pet her but I won't be too surprised if it does happen.

It's perfectly normal to let kids pet your dog. Don't worry and just let them get their fill, or walk away when you really do need to go. As long as you don't do anything sketchy, you have nothing to worry about.

I had a similar situation years ago. While not a 4 on 1, was an agressive standard poodle off lead and an apathetic owner in a public area. I'd seen the poodle being an ass to other dogs, and formulated a plan if my dog was ever on the receiving end.
It finally happened. Fifi -fo- fum (the giant poodle dog lol) came charging at my lab. After sniffing ass, the poodle mounted my boy, who scooted and turned. Fifi bared it's teeth and went at the labs shoulder. Here was my opening. I grabbed that bastard by the hind legs, roundhouse smashed it against a trash barrel, reversed and tossed it into a field toward the owner.
Then, looking in his sheepish eye, with my command voice shouted "Control your dog."

We never saw them again.

I'm remembering all this crazy shit now. Same 'effing dog park. It's been shut down for 20 years, but back in the day...

Walking on trail. My lab is finding tennis balls, demanding I throw them. This fucker was an old school, hard headed field trial dog. 108 lbs of muscle, his dad made the cover of the field trip news. It literally gave ZERO shits about anything except fetching and birds. More than once he brought me a another dog latched onto a stick or ball.
We're walking through the woods and about 20 feet away, blocking path, a 45 lbs mongrel is snarling and barking at me. I stop, square up, and stare that dog straight in the eye for a l_o_n_g seconds before continuing, not taking my eye off it. It stood it's ground for about two steps, and began to fade to the side, display in all of the primary agressive signals (as was I). Suddenly a lady ran up and shouted "What are you doing!?"
"I'm dealing with a vicious animal."
"He's not vicious, just poorly socialized. Stop walking toward him"
"I'm sure as hell not going to.turn my back on him, woman. Get that animal on a leash."
I have no patience for vicious dogs or the humans that maintain them and reinforce the behavior.

I have an Australian Terrier for about 7 years now. He didn't get to go out a lot when he was little but he behaves like a charm with people, he never once bited me or anyone I know in tht time. However since we don't have any other dogs to keep him company he didn't get to socialize, and know whenever he sees another dog he doesn't know how to react. Sometimes hhe is fine until getting close, or until they start smelling him and then he panics. Most of the times he barls like an idiot whenever he sees them though, even if it is a fucking pitbull that can bite his head off in one bit. I don't know how can I make him socialize when he seems to piss or scare every dog off.
Sometimes it really is poor socializing dude.
