I am guessing you thought they were psilocybe mushrooms. In North Carolina you would rarely find P. cubensis in cow manure, or P. semilanceata in damp fields. The species these resemble, P. cyanescens, is only in the pacific northwest. In North Carolina, you are not going to find any, just letting you know now before you waste time.
