Hey guys I've had my dog for about two weeks now and my landlord just told me he whines and yelps for awhile after I leave. I assume this is separation anxiety, how can I fix this?

Gotta give them calming treats.
>>
get a kong and put some peanut butter and kibble in it and give it to the dog when you leave. It will keep him occupied for an hour or 4 after you leave.
>>
I'd suggest looking into what different animal shelters suggest to do, as shelter dogs commonly get anxiety. ASPCA and Dumb Friends League are pretty good. Make sure you get him real tired out before hand with a run or play time, and give him a food puzzle of some sort while you're gone.

Don't do this, kids.

Genius. Why didn't I think of this?

There are videos on YouTube that cover separation anxiety in very good detail. It takes training and effort and for you to not break focus on the training. You have a very smart, very driven, very active breed. Read up on it. YouTube and Google will be better than 4chan lol.

This takes time anon, but it requires the good old positive training. Put your pupper in a separate room where he can't hear your movement. Be quiet and wait until he starts whining. Don't react. Wait until he stops again. If he stops for a bit go back in and give him some
treats and compliments. Keep repeating the process with longer interludes. It takes quite some time and effort but it'll pay of.
