this

it's springtime in nor hem so all the morons are finding baby birds and kidnapping them. stop.
>>
My mom once found a bird younger than that, with its eyes closed

managed to raised it until it could fly

give it water with a syringe (no needle duh)
for food, smash dog food with water to turn it into a paste, warm it in microwave
it will shit red or something do to undigested colorant, it doesnt matter
>>
It's too late. He won't be accepted back. You could go find worms and mush them up into a paste and try to syringe into its mouth
>>
oh look, bird kidnapping season has begun
>>
>>2348264
>It's too late. He won't be accepted back.

>>
>>2348277
Put it back where you found it you actual retard
>>
>>2348279
>>2348264
This is a myth that started to stop children from touching wildlife and has no scientific basis.

>>2348277
We get this every year at this time, people """rescue""" fledglings that are learning to fly and take them home. Return it to where you found it and it should be fine. Keep it and it probably won't survive.
>>
>>2348281
I'm no bird specialist, but this one looks a bit young for learning to fly doesn't it?
I doesen't have all its feathers and stuff...
>>
>>2348289
If its that young then put it in a container as close to where you found it as possible, so its safe from cats and the like but with no top so the parents can hear it and feed it.
The parents will still feed it as though it were in the nest so its not a problem.

If not, take it to a wildlife rehab centre, you can google one near to you.
You dont have the tools or knowledge to look after the birb
>>
eat the bird
>>
>>2348257
retarded.
>>
>>2348277
because you literally did take him and bring him away from where he was. you literally stole it
>>
>>2348279
myth, birds actuall have shit olfact
>>
Let me guess, you're a woman.
>>
yeah he is actually pretty big for a baby, bring him back outside and keep an eye on him, see what happens. if you are really worried, bring him to a wilflife rehabilitator asap. (google them for your state)

i rehabed a baby bird once, it was hard work and the little fucker died in the end anyway. it's like fostering bottle baby kittens, sounds cute and fun in theory, but in practice is draining and depressing af when half of them die.
>>
Would it work if anon made a fake nest and put the bird in it, attached to a tree where he or she found it?
>>
>>2349453
Yes
>>
>>2348257
I think that is a baby house sparrow, you can't release him as he is an invasive species. He also doesn't look too good. Luckily for you, there's a board for that. Register with these guys: http://www.starlingtalk.com/community

DO NOT feed him with a syringe. You will DROWN him. To get some food in him, you should take small kibble of cat food and wet it in water. You might need to break it up to be more manageable for a sparrow. Their diets are almost exactly like a finch, so finding adult food is no issue. I can answer any immediate questions you have until you are registered.

If you still have him, that is. I've hand-raised both a sparrow and starling. How is he reacting to you? He looks fatigued in that photo, he also looks a bit too old to imprint.
>>
If you don't want to keep it, you can try and release it I guess. Just don't get caught (It's unlikely anyway). I am not 100% certain it's a house sparrow, all the little bastards look similar at that age.

The ones I was saddled with were in much worse shape though. All fledglings too, but the starling was skin and bones with a respiratory infection, and the sparrows fell into a horse ring and got all broken up. One of the sparrows didnt make it due to internal bleeding, the other took an extraordinarily long time to fly and get it's adult feathers. Ended up tame.

The starling somehow managed to imprint as a fledgling, and can talk. *shrug* It's up to you bud. Can always just let nature do it's thing. He probably won't make it, but that's natural. :P I'm a wimp, personally.
