Cats hate change. You're lucky he is only complaining and didn't stop using his litterbox too.
Just give him lots of consistency and a strict routine and he'll go back to normal in a few weeks. Getting another cat is just going to make things worse.

He's not lonely he's weirded out by his change of setting and will be fine in a couple weeks
Just give him love and attention and maybe spoil him with a couple treats when he's not being obnoxious
