I met a guy not too long ago that was in Vietnam. He said one night him and his buddies got drunk and lit one of those centipedes on fire and it ran through the camp spreading the flames and they had to chase it down. Sounds like good times.

Yes anon centipedes go all the way back to the Carboniferous era(325 million years ago), we the newfags on this planet compared to them.

House Centipede.jpg

Good heavens.

I get common house centipedes sometimes which must be pussycats compared to the things in this thread.

They are scary looking if they show up where they dont belong suddenly. But I advise people not to hurt them. This species isnt aggressive and wont bite unless molested. Best of all, they provide some pest control, hunting down all the nuisance bugs. They seem more efficient than spiders.

When spiders get comfy, they breed more spiders and instead of bugs you now have spiders.

But centipedes dont seem to breed like crazy just because they have some new hunting ground. Ive had the unhappy experience of having to terminate a bunch of baby spiders that hatched and were causing havoc, and felt bad.

But Ive never heard someone say they were being over run with house centipedes.

I find them harmless, but I've never had to contend with the types itt.
>>
>>2346233
Well, they were vegetarians though
>>
>>2346265
DESU house centipedes are cute. We had one in our work out room and I called him my running instructor. Used to hang out on the TV when I turned it on. Husband decided to start lifting, didn't know about my buddy and I hear a shrill scream followed by a loud "thud." Poor little dude just nearly escaped death from a dumbbell. He's still alive, but luckily, had to give a stern sermon on how he helps keep the house clean of other bugs and that attacking him is a no-no.

They're like cooler, more docile spiders. If I'm ever able to I'd like to bring him a moth or something to eat and watch.
>>
>>2346233
Would they be extreme enough to be used as a big walking stretcher?
>>
>>2346265
yeah house centipedes are a different family. one time it flooded after rain and I saved this red centipede from drowning by taking it out of the water, and it immediately went in to sting me. I don't blame it or anything though, I knew it would happen. it doesn't hurt that much

Same thing happen with troops in desert and camel spider.
Are american solders are tired fighting human war and want bug war?
>>
>>2344937
I know that feel famalam, grew up on Maui in the jungle and pedes were always sliding in

>doing homework on night in 10th grade
>huge centipede crawls out from under my door
>scream like a bitch and throw my geometry textbook on it
>it only crushes half of it, other half flailing around desperately
>grab small trash can in my room I use for papers and put it on its upper half
>run to kitchen and grab tong
>lift trash can and geometry book and quickly scoop the centipede into the trash can
>it starts worming around down there
>I take it to the bathroom in order to flush it
>feel bad about killing an animal
>take it outside
>throw it into the bushes

I sure am glad it didn't return, more powerful than before and thirst for revenge

Vietnamese here. That picture is fake. It's probably tied to a string or something and held closer to the camera. If you go out and look for them in the jungle, the biggest you'll find is maybe something like 10 inches if you're lucky.

Their carapace is made out of mostly chitin, which is not flammable. You can't just randomly set one on fire without immediately killing it, retard.
>>
>>2346265
Yeah, spiders are a lot worse.

>wake up one day and walk into kitchen to make some coffee
>see a giant spider about the size of a quarter on the floor
>grab a pen off the counter and poke it
>the spider is dead
>upon closer inspection I see it has a little rip in its back
>I throw it away thinking nothing of it
>one day later
>get home from work
>sit down in living room
>little thing comes down in front of my face
>it's a spider
>I look up to see hundreds of them all over
>have an electric fly swatter that I usually use on wasps in the summer
>start killing baby spiders with it
>they all start coming down on my webs and I feel very threatened
>do a 360 electrocuting all of the small arachnids
>run out of my house and sit in my car
>not sure what to do
>go back inside and finish the job

That's my wost spider story.

My aunt tells me this story all the time.

>Aunt is a owner of a shit ton of fishing lodges
>Has one down in venezuala
>She brings me down there with her for a week, I'm like 3 years old
>According to her, I'm sitting down on the floor of her bedroom playing with toys
>Out of nowhere a bigass centipede crawls out from under her bed
>I start screaming like I'm getting stabbed to death, this thing is circling me like I'm it's next meal
>She rushes in there, see's it, and put me on her bed
>It scurries back under the bed
>She goes to grab me again to take me out of the room, and the thing literally runs out to attack her feet
>She screams, drops me right next to the centipede
>Now her instincts kick in and she slams her heel down on it's head
>wrong end
>she accidentally crushed it's tail
>it turns around to bit her, she kicks it into the wall
>I run out screaming and crying
>She finishes it with the broom handle

Freaks me out every time I hear it.
>>
my dad said they saw a lot of giant centipedes (not like in OP though of course) and also rats the size of cats. the foxholes would get infested at night with every horrible creeper crawler inna jungle. apparently one of those centipedes got down the shirt of one of his buddy's and he lost his shit
