Wondering if anyone can explain this.
So I'm sitting in my living room and I suddenly hear my cat, Milo, screeching bloody murder from outside. Of course, I get up and run outside to see what's happened. Milo comes sprinting from behind my neighbors house, growling and hissing, and runs inside. He isn't visibly injured but very worked up. He let's me pet him but is still on edge. My other cat, Percy, walks into the room and as soon as Milo sees him, he starts growling and hissing at him. Milo and Percy get along just fine so this was very odd. Percy attempts to approach him but Milo started making this screeching noise that I've never heard him make before. Percy backed off but eventually tried to approach him multiple other times but received the same response. I separated the two in different rooms but even if Percy approaches the door to the room Milo is in, Milo flips his shit. I find it really odd that Milo acts fine when I approach him but freaks out when Percy does. Anyone have an answer for this?

Your cat met another got outside, got into a territorial fight (they scream bloody fucking murder when fighting with other cats), and now he is super on edge and defensive with other cats. Even his buddy is going to make him nervous because the attack was recent.
Keep him in that separate room for a few days and don't let him outside. Hopefully he'll calm down, but in the meantime that will give him some breathing room and still let him smell his buddies scent so he doesn't completely forget who he's living with and get used to it again.

Having somehow escaped your house for what was no doubt the first time in his life, he got spooked. He'll probably be alright, but I recommend that you're more careful in the future when securing your doors and windows.
