I asked a medical doctor, and did some fact-checking myself, and this seems to be the general consensus. You'll get toxoplasmosis once, it'll hang around for a couple of months but you probably won't feel sick, and then your immune system will clear it out. Unless you're severely immunologically compromised, you won't ever get it again because you'll thereafter have immunity.

If you're undergoing intensive cancer treatments or have AIDS (not HIV+, fullblown AIDS) then you should probably avoid cats, but otherwise there should be no issue.

Also, I have toxoplasmosis, acquired from stray cats. I developed mental issues (reckless behavior/lack of empathy/addictive personality) over the years.
I know personal experience doesn't count to prove a point, but my family is rich as fuck and daddy paid literally hundreds of thousands in looking into what was causing my mental issues because he was sure it was the toxo. Doctors found absolutely no trace of toxo parasites or even it's influence on my brain, only in my right eye.
Same father forbid us from having cats and was a deranged dog-fag who would let a dog shit in his mouth if he thought it was cute enough.

Fun part is my younger brother: young adult, a fucking hikki neet, addicted to porn and has extensive cognitive and interpersonal issues. Never had toxo.
