Why do kittens meow so much?
I've had this guy for about 4 weeks, and he meows at me every time I say something.
Does he just like communicating with me or could there be an issue with him that I should get checked?

Poor guy is probably as stupid as you.
Thinks you know what he is saying

Some cats are just very vocal. My experience tells me the cat is only going to get louder as it reaches puberty, desexed or not.
Trade it in for a quieter kitten if it bothers you. Or you might luck out and it will quiet down if you never acknowledge it's attention meowing.
cats are a lottery and you are fukd
Well not really. But now you need to get him a cat buddy or he'll be a loud fucker forever.

>Implying vocal cats are a bad thing
I wouldn't have my cat any other way, even when he starts yelling "MOW" at the top of his lungs at midnight because he's bored/lonely.
If it bugs you, don't acknowledge him when he meows, otherwise he'll equate meowing with getting attention and do it more.

He may grow out of it, or he may not.
Both of my cat's used to meow constantly when they were kittens, but now they are both pretty quiet unless they want food or they are greeting me.
Sometimes my male one just starts meowing for no good reason and will just pace around. He eventually goes back to normal though and my female cat doesn't really do it.
Cats are more likely to remain vocal if you talk to them at an early age. So if you want your kot to stop, don't respond to the meowing. Vocal cats are better imo though, because you know when they're trying to tell you something
