Three of my eleven chickens were dead when I went to lock them up for the night. They looked healthy this morning and they weren't attacked by an animal. What the fuck happened to my chickens?
Sounds like you've got a chupacabra on your hands.

A chronic deprivation of animal control.

>weren't attacked
don't be so certain. minks are great at leaving lifeless chickens with no signs of struggle or injury
OP, you've got a snipe problem. You need to purchase some snipe traps from your local hardware store or buy a dog or something.

I had a mink prey on my chickens a long time ago. Usually left a small cut around the cone or on the neck somewhere.

ah. i guess i just overlooked mine. or ghosts did it. fuck.
Several of my families chickens were killed by a black ratsnake once. It had tried eating a fairly good-sized one, but gave up when it could fit it's mouth over the wings. If the head and neck hadn't been wet, I never would've figured it out.

Check again for bite marks if you haven't buried them/disposed of them. They can be hard to see sometimes. Dogs tend to kill in excess. It has happened a few times with us. Had to hold a dying rooster in my arms because his lung was punctured. Animal attacks are no fun.
