so theres a bird that everyday comes and crashes to a big window in my flat. again and again.
can anyone explain this behaviour?

It looks like a treeline to us because we're capable of abstract thought and trained to see how a thing that resembles something else is supposed to represent it.
To a bird it just looks like a bunch of weird white lines--it can't possibly be a tree to them because it's not 3D and it doesn't have bark.
