Anyone remember The Future Is Wild?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0kzMmcTS8I
Yes, and the manga that came with it. Also just found some other weird imax thing about future animals that came out a while back.

>Giant land walking octopus that preys on smaller octopus that swings from trees like monkeys
That shit was ridiclous
Oh fuck yea. The first version is the best
Octopus just never died. No matter what. Octopus are gods

Lol, there was a manga?
I think i got the original on DVD from blockbuster promo.
Any good torrents up for it?

Thanks
sucks that we can't get any better than 720p
>>2290552
higher res didn't really exist for television programs back then.
I fucking loved watching this as a kid
I wish they will make a remake of future is wild with modern cgi and/or animatronics, and more realistic speculatively evolved creatures based on modern knowledge of evolution in response to climatic changes etc
>>2289716
I read a book about it when I was younger, I'd grab it often at the local library and re-read it. Good times.
>>2290555
Someone's attempting something like that, albeit it's just an internet project. It's supposed to cover the rest of this eon and a small portion of the next. Inhabitants of these future worlds include, but aren't limited to, flying crocodiles, four-legged birds, giant carnivorous pigs, aquatic possi, and bipedal bats.
I could post some pics if you want.

Please do.

Okay

Also, bear in mind, each of the creatures depicted in group shots most likely come from different time periods.
>>2290628
There's also a little handy comic that comes with it. It's in somewhat broken English, as it isn't the guy's primary language.
Want it posted?
>>2290623
Also, just in case anyone's wondering how he managed to pull off quadrupedal birds.

Thanks for posting this man
This is brilliant, I hope a network picks this up and makes a walking with dinosaurs type series with this
Like 6 episodes each set in a different future area and time period based on this project
This is wonderful

Primarily located on his DA page, but it's in a more organized form on the Spec Evo board on Zetaboards

And this is the last one he's done for now. Also, he has full descriptions for each of the creatures on their DA pages.

Yeah, I like the tree squids.
>>2289717
Is this scanlated anywhere
>>2290936
Unfortunately, no. However, it's available for purchase on the Japanese Amazon website for a rather low price (everything's in ¥). I think they also have a "The New Dinosaurs" manga available as well. Both are done in a similar style.

I see some kaiju took the transition from rubber costumes to CGI rather well.
I remember when Animal Planet was having a full-day marathon of this when I was a kid. The family went on some holiday trip while I stayed at home watching it. It was all just different re-edits of the same episodes, but I soaked it up.
I also remember going out into the street, and the music from this show was blasting from one house. It was audible from across the street. Looks like I wasn't the only fan in the neighborhood.
Someone working on this must've really hated mammals, huh?
>>2291048
Most likely the animators. Fur and feathers are hard to render, so lets just have fish, bugs and squids inherit the Earth.
Bump for more spec evo.
>>2291048
More like somebody really hated terrestrial vertebrates in general.
Shoutout to my boi sharks though, making it all the way to the end still going strong.
I find it kind of hard to believe that while all these species, from Sharks to Hippos, survived in the form of alternate evolutions, arthropods just up and vanished.
>>2291850
Human size reference where?
>>2291906
None that I could find, but I'm pretty sure that the female is meant to be around the size of an orca or small baleen whale, while the male is 2/3 the size of the female.
>>2290632
N is pretty fucking badass.
Bump with Dixon
OMG, just posted a message in new thread... There is one Russian project dedicated to future evolution - "Tour to Neocene", and I'm a starter of this project. Looking for new ideas and fans of this theme.
>>2289716
I loved this show. It's a shame that the closest things we can realistically witness are speculation and the weird shit that happens on islands and other isolated habitats.
What's the likelihood of sea snails evolving to fill the niche left behind by the Cetacea clade? I remember when I was younger I drew that concept in school.
I so forgot about this. Yeah, it was wack! I remember watching it on TV.

>What's the likelihood of sea snails evolving to fill the niche left behind by the Cetacea clade
Little to none.
Aww sweet a
