Hey /an/, I'm new to this board but I'm guessing there may be some entomolo-anons about who might be able to tell me what this cute hexapedal little bastard is.

It's about a centimeter long.
It looks like it could be a brown marmorated stinkbug, but apparently those shouldn't be in San José, CA.

I found it while cleaning my room. I don't have pets or ornamental plants, and my floor is mostly paperwork and books.

I know my pics are shitty, but the little dude/dudette decided to move a lot and my camera focus is spotty.

Gaaah.
Here is pic.

i'm thinking you're right. marmorated...keep him as a pet so he will die of natural causes and not be a pest
Can confirm we call those Chinches in Mexico, they smell like shit if you squish them so be careful anon

aww thats just a lil stink bug
they get a terrible rap for their name, but they're completely harmless, and won't make a smell unless you hurt them. I love the little guys.

It is a brown marmorated stinkbug, they don't stink unless you try to harm them. I've pick up stinkbugs loads of stinkbugs and never had them smell because I don't try to hurt them.
They're pretty cool, if you don't wanna let it back out because it's invasive than do as the other anon said and keep it in a reasonably sized tub, with some soil, leaf litter, sticks and hides and feed it fruits, veggies and fresh leaves.

>Sharp stabbing pain in neck
>slap area of neck hard
>most pungent horrible smell
Stink bugs are little shits. They can and will bite/stab you with their stabby little mouths given the chance.

I've been around them a lot and handled them often as a kid and never once have I been bitten. It's unfortunate that you apparently were, but I think it's a pretty unlikely thing to happen. They are also pretty cumbersome, so I have trouble imagining a scenario in which it has gotten onto me and I didn't notice, at which point a brush with my hand would save me from any potential bite.
