I dont know if this goes here or on /sci/ but my son found this rock this weekend and it looked kinda odd (was really dirty). Whatever, i picked it up and cleaned it a bit and was pretty shocked.
It flakes like obsidian, does anyone know what this is?
Cool!
I want to lick it

probably glass though.

just naturally occuring glass? how does that even happen? wouldnt that take extreme heat? here is the bottom of it.

That definitely looks like glass, where did he find it?
>>2263656
he just kicked it over, it was on the topsoil in florida. it didnt look anything like that when i first got it. basic rock kind of thing until it was cleaned up a bit.

it's just bottle glass that's been melted in a fire or furnace.
could be leftovers from a glass-blower's shop. Could be campfire art. Could be something someone made in their garage with a torch.

now that's what i call a pet rock
>>2263655
Yes, it does take extreme heat. But glass forms naturally all the time. All it requires is enough sand in the soil when lightning strikes.

>just naturally occuring glass?
no, it's garbage

My pet rock would beat your pet rock anyday
>>2263852
you would be surprised what junk glass like that can go for. Not garbage prices, that's for sure.
>>2263853
Bitch, my pet rock would chew your rock up and spit it out

Glass-making waste. Pretty vivid and kinda interesting. Worth checking in local records if a glass factory is recorded in the area.

Enjoy your face-hugger.
