Can someone who knows how quicksand works riddle me where the fuck those birds went??
>that one bird that's just like "fuck it" and goes head first into the sand
Probably to another dimension.
quicksand is a non-newtonian fluid
that's just normal sand flowing through a hopper or something
the birds were likely crushed
proof that those male chicks that go through the grinder at the sexing factory probably don't suffer too much trauma
that's grain in a hopper you dumbfucks
>>2255279
The grinding never really bothered me. It happens so fucking fast, being turned to gelatin in under a second wouldn't do much more than sting really bad for an instant before they're dead.
I always thought it'd be neat if they were shipped off to struggling zoos and preservation areas to become easy live prey for rehabilitating predators.
>>2255280
Ah. That explains why they stick around to begin with.
>>2255283
That would be a nice thought, but that would cost money and the CEOs of the BK lounge still need to pay off their diamond encrusted pool filled with the blood of virgins
>>2255290
Well we can't have that now can we.
So... cityslicker reporting in. How exactly does a grain hopper work? Like where does the grain go? Where does it come from? I tried googling and just got ads for hoppers for sale and I can't really buy one because I don't have any grain to put in it.
>>2255301
it's just a huge funnel
>>2255302
So the birds are fine, then.
>>2255311
no, they were probably crushed by the weight of the material
>>2255314
I'm guessing they aren't, just because a shitload are being sucked down, and if it killed them it would dwindle their numbers very quickly and that many wouldn't be feeding there so casually in the first place.
>>2255318
you didn't know what a hopper was a couple hours ago so i forgive you for not understanding that when gravity pulls them, along with the material through the chute, they are bearing the weight of the entire load from all sides as they pass through. this can be literal tonnes depending on the capacity of the hopper
>>2255335
>>2255301
>>2255311
These are me, not the one you're replying to, but I appreciate the clarification anyway. I have a hard time wrapping my head around how they'd be crushed in a funnel unless the mouth was smaller than their body, but I'll take your word for it.
>>2255318
Also, you're silly, because there are hundreds of billions of pigeons everywhere and every one of them is dumb as shit. I wish pigeon was more mainstream in American diets so we could be rid of the fuckers.
>>2255253
This happened in Russia. The birds were ground up with and cooked into bread.
>>2255335
That was my first post in the entire thread.
Wouldn't the hopper not be full for that to happen though? I'd think in order for there to be that whirlpool effect on the surface the grain would have to be pretty close to the bottom. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
>>2255349
you are wrong
it's hard to get a sense of scale from the video but these are huge machines designed to move massive amounts of material as quickly as possible
it may be gravity fed, or have some sort of mechanism aiding it's passage which will fuck them up even harder
even if the birds survive a trip though the chute (i doubt they can) they will be crushed by falling material on the other side

>>2255253
>they don't even try to get away
>just accept the cruel hand of fate
>as it kills them
>with food
I... what the fuck?
>>2255318
>Some are going down the hopper again just for the hell of it
Explained why some just jump right in.
>>2256326
It looks fun as hell.
They simply don't know were the other pigeons went.
At least they didn't die in vain. Each of those brave birds is a new Darwin Award recipient.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grain_entrapment
>>2255280
yeah. people die in those too. sounds awful
That's freaky. I really hope their deaths were fast instead of slow and agonizing.
Also, why does this footage exist anyway? Seems nasty to have pigeon corpses among something that's supposed to used for food. Shouldn't they be blocking the birds from reaching the grain instead of just watching and filming them?
>>2256552
>grain-entrapment deaths ... reaching an all-time annual high of 26 in 2010
The fuck? How hard is it for people to stay away from the grain? I'd understand if this was like 1850 here but all time high in modern times? Jesus.
>>2258440
>I really hope their deaths were fast
They weren't.
>Once entrapment begins, it happens very quickly due to the suction-like action of the grain. A human body in grain takes seconds to sink, minutes to suffocate
>minutes to suffocate
>>2258445
>a human body
>>2258447
>implying those birds aren't people too
Don't be racist.
>>2258440
>Also, why does this footage exist anyway? Seems nasty to have pigeon corpses among something that's supposed to used for food. Shouldn't they be blocking the birds from reaching the grain instead of just watching and filming them?
It's Russia - 3rd world country - they probably like the taste of rottting bird bones, feathers and pigeon shit in the wodka they make from the grain.
Why don't they just put up a screen cover on top so birds and people can't fall in?
>>2259435
Dude, seriously, which part of "It's Russia" wasn't clear to you.
No fuck has ever been given in Russia - not since the glaciers retreated.
The only things they care even a little bit about is Wodka and child pornography.
>pic related - MFW Russia
>>2255424
>pigeons
>pigeons
I mean, pigeons.
>>2259622
And not just pigeons - ***Russian*** pigeons.
Like a Black Hole of ungiven fucks.
Well as a general rule all the poor countries do give a fuck about food and cuisine, maybe as the most accessible source of entertainment or something, ask /ck/, poor/third world country food is good.
Now, if we are talking Russia, their organization responsible for shit in people's food is the most powerful commercial competition tool available and you are more likely to loose your business because someone payed them to "find something" if there's nothing at all in the first place. Same with import goods: "lel the whole harvest butch totally had ebola, BSE and bird flu in it".
So I think the grain in the op is feed grain although you'd never know.
