Also As long as you aren't paying for a show quality cat they will sell you some with not quite perfect aspects of a Russian blue. Such as slight stripes. White lockets of fur on their chest and underside. Not completely green eyes. As long as there is a tinge of green its still a blue though. Just the show quality ones are the perfect specimines. If you are buying a show quality your spending upwards of 2k for a blue. Most will generally just sell you the non perfect ones as pets. Which you can get from about 650-1000.

Every cat I've ever owned has been a rescue. Two were picked up off the street as adults. The two kittens I helped foster. One was a feral kitten that I helped socialise, then picked from the other ferals to take home. Another was an influenza kitten that nearly didn't make it. The whole litter and the queen were sick, but this one was the sickest. I sat and fed that kitten with a syringe, its tiny ribs and hips pressed into my hand, its eyes gummed shut completely with ick, its nose almost blocked, and wondered if he would pull through the night. Would he still be there when I arrived to help out the next day? Or would he be a cold skinny little body that we'd have to dig a little hole for in the back garden?

I have not regretted the fact I have never had a purebred cat. My cats have never felt unremarkable. They have each had their own stories and their own unique personalities.

It just means I care more about an animal's welfare than my own selfish desires. I'm actually pretty allergic to cats and I still wouldn't get a cat anywhere but a shelter or a rescue. Both of my boys are rescue. One from a pet adoption event and the other was a half feral kitten that I just couldn't not take home. Allergies be damned!

My blue cat has green eyes with some yellow slivers, stripes you can only see if you take a pic of her with flash on(still took me years to notice) and she has a grand total of 12 white hairs on her chest. She also fits the personality perfectly.

She's not a Russian blue despite even vets insisting. Found her in the woods with a tabby mom, her tabby sisters so unless that mom cat fucked a Russian blue(unlikely since it was the ghetto woods) she has nonr of that in her. Even if she had a rb dad she's still just a moggie.
