Isn't the Old Style Farm Collie just the modern English Shepherd? It's the Scotch Collie, right?
The Scotch Collies were brought to the USA by settlers and those dogs created a landrace that became the English Shepherd of today.

They aren't bred for looks, but to work. They have no real physical standard or conformation. From what I've read, most that DNA test and found out they were double merles(they aren't almost all white like collies, Danes, etc) had normal hearing. It does happen with deafness but if one pup from a litter is deaf, that pair will not be bred again.
I wouldn't call this breed obscure but it is largely untouched by BYBing. I follow a few breeders because I'm a masochist and they very carefully pick where pups go and many will not be sold to anyone who doesn't hunt or have the land for them. They don't want their dogs to go to waste. It's strange seeing it but even when they're only $400, people won't buy them unless they're from 'proven' working lines.

I'm not sure what kind of dog this is, I think it's a sort of Pit Bull.
Also, I like Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
