How is there no ferret thread? Let's change that, show me your fetters and /or cages/play area!
This are mine. This one's name is Sirius
And this one's Luna
>mfw Fanta died cause of the cancer last month
It still hurts
This is Freyja, the terror. She likes knocking objects over, stealing anything with rubber, and digging in her food bowl.
His brother died a couple years ago so I'm planning on getting another to keep him company

I've been really interested in Ferrets as a small apartment meme-pet, but I have no clue about their general health.
They won't die in like 2 years like rats will they, because that sounds really depressing.

They generally live a lot longer than that, but they're very prone to cancer so it can vary greatly.
They're great pets to own if you don't mind having to split your house down the middle so you don't constantly smell of ferret. Lively and only need a few hours of attention a day as they sleep most of the time, don't need a great deal of space but they're often best kept in pairs or small businesses so they don't get lonely and can keep each other company.
It's just a shame they have so many health concerns, for example this is a picture of Sooty and she's actually a sable ferret who's natural colour is more similar to >>2242410 but after going mostly bald due to a cancerous growth, she eventually came back this colour. You just never know what to expect when it comes to random health issues with ferrets.

For reference, here she is five years before on the left, not the right because that's Snowy.

She still looks beautiful like that, honestly. Sable ferrets are a dime a dozen, but she has really nice coloring now.

Unfortunately she passed away last year, the cancerous growth became too large and she lost mobility in her back legs. The quality of life just wasn't there anymore. She's next to her sister now who passed two years before.
If you're from Europe you should know it's illegal to keep them in a cage. But if you're murican I think it would be legal but please keep them like a indoors cat or give them their own room. And they need fresh meat (also organs and whole animals like mice). Otherwise they are great. My monsters are really affectionate even though I go hunting with them.
