If you wanna keep your cat indoors, be prepared to spent a ,or of time with him and play with him. Else he'll get bored.

Also have a scratching pole, several places to hide/sleep, several water sources etc in your place. Maybe have a cat tree if you have a breed that likes to climb.

Don't be stupid and try to keep "wild" breeds like the norwegian forest cat or certain asian breeds on you 3 room apartment without balcony on the 7th floor. That's it.

Is English not your primary language? A 7th floor window will suffice if there is action to watch. I take it you speak from experience because I have a wegie and its just fine being an inside cat with windows. I do take it outside on supervised breaks from time to time. No issues here, just need to play with it. They love being high up so shelves are definitely a must.

From what I hear about your cat, you just seem to take good care of it by taken it outside etc and having shelves and such. The thing, most people don't do actually provide all of that and then the problems start.

My experiences come from work, I'm a cat behaviorist and I work with cats with behavioral problems that can't be solved by a veterinarian (mostly problems cause by stress/territorial stuff/boredom/fear etc.)
I also do some volunteering at a cat shelter

It's undeniable that a cat which has gone outside is never going to be satisfied by playtime with a human in a normal sized house. My former feral will play with me for about 2 minutes and then fucks off.
