So I live in Mendocino county California, and I just seen a small (and what I think to be) wildcat. It was longer than a normal house cat , but around the height of a larger one. It's ears were round, not pointy, and it was gray with dark stripes above all four of its feet with a long tail. I thought it had smooth fur, but my boyfriend-who's seen it twice before this, thinks it's fluffy.
It wasn't a bobcat or lynx, and if it wasn't for the colors, I would have normally called it an ocelot, as it had that same shape. Any idea what kind of cat it is? Google isn't helping with pictures of northern cats right now.
colors are not good for identifying, take note of what is.
you saw a housecat

It really didn't look like a regular house cat, unless it was a mix? I'll try to get a picture if I see it again

OK, I found a picture. It had almost this exact color pattern but with smaller and rounder ears, and it's body was longer than a normal house cat-another reason I thought it was a wildcat.

Can you post a picture of one? I've never seen this color pattern on a regular cat
