Hello famalams, I'm considering getting a cat, and had a few questions. Is a studio apartment too small for a indoor cat? Any breed recommended for minimal shedding? How nasty is the poo box going to be?
it'll live
ones with less hair. asking about breed means you know nothing about cats, this is a bad idea
you'll live

Studio is fine. They like climbing so get a cat tree.
get a shorthaired, dark cat- no white long fur no matter how cute it is. My girl barely sheds.
The litter box isn't bad but you have to clean it everyday. I recommend the tidycats breeze, that's what i have

>everyday
What the hell? I want a low maintenance animal not a fucking second job.
>>2215162
It takes about 1 minute to scoop up whatever shit and piss your cat made in a 24 hour period. Then you do a full litter change where you switch everything out like once a week max imo. You gotta stay on top of it because you live in such a small space
Or would you prefer a pet rock?
>>2215162
Yeah, it takes less than a minute a day to clean it. If that's too much for you there isn't any animal suitable for you to keep.
>>2215162
It's better than letting it pile up. In a studio apartment, you'll smell it if you let go for more than a day.
It's a lot nicer to just deal with a day's worth of shit than a week's worth of shit. Not to mention a lot of cats will just shit elsewhere if it's too dirty for their liking.

Can I not just get a ferret and leave it in the garden to eat the rats?
>>2215162
>I want a low maintenance animal not a fucking second job
Is picking crap up from the poobox a bit too much for you OP?
>>2215184
sure, if you want to spend a lot of money on a ferret you'll never see again.
>>2215188
How much do ferrets cost where you live? Over here I can get one for the equivalent of 10 dollars. It's worth a go for that much I think.
>>2215190
Where is over here?
>>2215190
...okay, you have fun with that.
>>2215193
Wouldn't you like to know.
If I told you you'd probably think poorly of my countrymen. The next time you met one you'd say "I know what these twats are about, when I encounter one online they're always retards". I know what you're like with your national stereotypes. It's nasty.
>>2215199
don't give yourself too much credit. if we're even aware of whatever shithole you live in to begin with, it's likely we already look at you as a bunch of dirt farming shitbrains. so you have nothing to lose
>>2215199
No, I'm just curious about where ferrets are that cheap because they're like 100 dollars minimum where I am in the US.
>>2215200
>shithole you live in
And so here it begins. You're already spouting xenophobic hate towards me and you don't even know where I'm from.
No chance I'm telling you now.
>>2215203
Ireland.
>>2215162
You'll also have to feed the thing TWICE a day!
Maybe you should look into something lower maintenance. Like a rock.
>>2215206
Someone already said the rock thing. How does it feel to be so utterly trite?
>>2215207
It doesn't hurt to suggest it again, pet rocks shouldn't be taken for granite
>>2215162
get a house on the countryside
get an outdoors cat
???
profit
Well thanks to the jackass that derailed my thread, actual thanks to those that advised me before some shithead pretended to be me
>>2215162
Actually triggered that anyone that thinks that is too much work would ever consider getting any kind of pet 2bh
>>2215456
I never pretended to be you. I never said "OP here" or anything like that. I just asked some of my own questions.
>>2215162
Just get a self cleaning litter box if you don't want to deal with it everyday.
>>2215474
Either way, fuck you for being a lazy faggot and derailing the thread.
>>2215513
Why is this board the most po-faced on all of 4chan? Everyone's so fucking uptight and desperate to prove how much they like animals. It's like a containment board to keep people from complaining about animal snuff gifs on the rest of the site.
>>2215193
In the UK/Ireland you can easily get ferret kits for £5-15 depending on breeding.
so you can actually give an indoor cat a happy life as a shut-in neet in a studio apartment?
>>2215796
Yeah, you just need to remember to provide stimulation. You can't expect your cat to sit all day with nothing in the apartment. It'd be good to get enough toys to rotate what is available, put some up every few days, and get out some "new" ones. Also consider doing things like putting a few bits of food here and there around the apartment instead of in one big bowl, so the cat has actually work for the found. If it's at all possible, you should find a way to let the cat outside safely, either on a leash or in an outdoor pen/enclosure.
That's why so many people just let their cats outside unsupervised, it's a lot less work to entertain your cat.

*food, not found.
