Should I get a praying mantis or a hermit crab?
Pic heavily related.

Praying mantis. Hermit crabs aren't really suited for captivity. They are (almost?) never bred because of their larval stage and usually don't live very long in captivity despite them being able to reach ages of 20 years.
Praying mantids however are frequently bred and the common species are piss-easy to keep.

>(almost?
there's no captively bred hermit crabs available on the marked, zero.
they're ALWAYS wildcaught.
It will die in like 2 days , lifespan
That's literally the only reason I never got one
What the others said. Get a beginner species like Hierodula membranacea, Sphodromantis or Phyllocrania paradoxa.

I mean, it is totally doable to keep hermits properly. They die because they are marketed towards idiots with no proper care even slightly mentioned, not because of an inherent inability to do well in captivity.
