My tarantula has escaped. I placed it in it's newer cage and then left for a double shift at work. Came home to find the cage empty.
It's only about 6 months old. It's a Red Rump that I've been raising since it was a hatching. I've never seen it climb and for about 99% of its life it seemed to just dig a hole under a log and hid. So I'm a little surprised it escaped. Likely through a small bend in the lid I hadn't noticed.
It's only been missing for a day now. I have the bedroom locked off since I have allergies and keep the place clean so the bedroom door is rarely open. I assume it's still in the room but can't find it. Tried looking in corners and under furniture. I'm going to be busy this week with work so I want to create a lure to attract it to a certain spot so I save it.
Pic of it. It's a little older now

>I want to create a lure
this is not fishing, m8
also, please be responsible and make sure your animal is not able to escape.
really, that's how you CAN start a desaster (with invasive species)
you will most likely never find it again

It's probably outside, they can cover a lot of territory but it depends heavily on the spider how far will it go.
It's gonna be under something around 500 meters around your house.
You will never lure it, that's not something spiders do.

Yeah I didn't think a lure world work since most of the time it just kind of did it's own thing regardless. I heard some people suggest putting a hide and some water out for it but it's been my experience it's never been attracted towards it. I tried it anyways just in case
I just feel helpless in finding it since I'm not home that often now

glad to hear you found the little escapee
Hiya guys my Chilean rose tarantula has finished shedding its skin about 12 hours ago. When do I feed it? Some websites say feed it straight after shedding because it takes a lot of energy, others say wait until the spiders new shin has toughened up.
Please halp

Did you spank him?

I guess if you just give him food, he'll eat whenever he feels is best.

Why do you think his rump is red anon?
