There's two different types.

Ask him to put the snake in a glass. If it acts like water, it's a liquid snake.

If the snake acts like a rock, it's a solid snake.

It's wild caught and way overpriced for a craigslist snake, so avoid it. You can get a captive bred Ball Python for free if you keep an eye on the classifieds. People are always giving them away or at least selling them very cheap.

Your real expense will show up when you buy their enclosure. The terrarium, decoration, substrate, bowls, hides, lights, heat lamp, all that junk. Easily $300 if you don't DIY it.
