I work with old people and there's one coffin dodger I'm worried about (family never visits, too frail to go outside) and I think a pet would be great for them.
The pet in question would need to be low maintenance but still capable of providing some comfort so dogs and fish are out of the equation.
Any recommendations? Maybe a bird or rabbit?
Turtle? idk fuck old people huehue

I wouldn't get anything that could vaguely get damaged mentally from having to be rehomed when the old person kicks the can. Def no a bird. Birds can live for decades and I have no idea how well they handle getting a new owner.
Fish?

Rat. Lab strain.
Extremely cuddly animal.
Just make sure to explore cage options because they might not be able to lift a metal rat cage and clean it.
