What are the different types of Poston Dart Frog ?
I'm working on a project to examine why Dart frogs don't emit toxins when held in captivity. But the tricky thing is what type of frog to get.
There's Dendrobates, Phyllobates, and Epipedobates, to name a few.

It's already well known that they have to eat poisonous prey in order to produce their own.

"Scientists are unsure of the source of poison dart frogs' toxicity, but it is possible they assimilate plant poisons which are carried by their prey, including ants, termites and beetles. Poison dart frogs raised in captivity and isolated from insects in their native habitat never develop venom."

This isn't even really a question anymore. If I were you I'd do something related to the different morphs and locales.

Since you seem like a bloody beginner, start out with either a tinctorius, auratus or a leucomelas. Those are the recommended beginner breeds.
Is it a university project? As many pointed out, the origin of the poison seems to have been largely resolved.
