Found this one today, walking on the street.

That's a regular sized brick by the way, one that size it's actually quite dangerous.

Those two give me a good show, I have more pictures of them if you are interested.

This is so cool, OP
Thanks for sharing

It kind of makes me want to try something like this

Just want to ask here since it'd be a waste to make a new thread. but when it comes to venomous spiders that aren't native they're not regulated correct? True spiders that is not T's Venomous reptile laws don't apply to true spiders though right? given they're considered pests rather than pets?
Also op are you going to keep them, if so what are you using as an enclosure?

Regulations for keeping wild animals are different in different places.

http://www.bornfreeusa.org/b4a2_exotic_animals_ords.php

But in my experience nobody cares about spiders, not big enough to be a problem.

I don't keep all of them, I literally just took a walk around the neighborhood with my phone, I captured a jumping spider and a couple of baby widows, that I'll keep for a while.

Over the years I had almost every spider that I could find, they're extremely easy to take care of, as long as you are good capturing flies.

For the smallest, I use jars, for the biggest I use aquariums but I don't have any large one right now, I used to keep a rose hair tarantula in a shoebox in the corner of my room, many mornings I woke up surrounded by spider silk.

Spiders get used to small spaces very quickly and are very good at housing, I have lost some spiders and I just let the jar open and they come back by themselves, until they do, it's scary.

cool shit friend. thanks for sharing.

I figured spiders weren't a major thing given they can legit happen to slip into boxes internationally and spread by complete accident anyways. looking up NC laws I mean reptiles require no special stuff/licensing just that the habitats are escape proof for snakes. So I guess any spider is golden basically. Neato.
I was thinking primarily feeding my widows (once I get them that is and also maybe some recluses/wolf spiders) Crickets and small/medium insects though I guess slings/babies would require flies and pre-killed things?
Do you have any suggestions on catching though? Like if they're in the woods that is, like placing a jar on top of them with a card/something underneath to pick them up? Or like gently nudging the spider towards a jar?

Web builders are really easy to catch, you find the web you find the spider, wait and get them in the jar as gently as you can, or they get mad.

Jumping spiders are a lot harder, I usually just get them by dumb luck, there's a couple of methods, but you have to wack the tree or things like that and I don't like it.

Some spiders are really picky eaters, I struggle to get different kind of bugs for my jumping spiders, and they don't eat all the time, some tarantulas can go a couple of months without eating.

Widows take care of themselves, the baby widow I got this morning already build a net and eat a fly twice her size.

They don't like pre-killed food unless they're really hungry and even then.

Recluses are not user friendly spiders, they don't mind humans that much, but they are hard to handle and require a surprising amount of territory, also they actually prefer to eat other spiders.

Never had a wolf spider, but they look like they move around a lot, so they are going to need space, probably good at eating crickets.

Alright cool I was just curious since to me it'd seem wasteful to purchase mactans/recluses if I could go innawoods and probably find one or the other (supposedly we've got wolf spiders too but I have never seen them.)
I figured they wouldn't like pre-killed, just wasn't sure what a sling/baby widow or any sling/baby for that matter would eat. I wouldn't want to put a cricket onto its web and then the cricket take a nip at the little girl/guy possibly damaging it. Assuming they even could.
Yeah I imagine recluses will be a more advanced thing that I'll try for after a few types of widows (probably after a Pallidus since they are supposed to be harder widows to care for) The main concern for the recluses would be whether a 'terrarium' would work? I mean I've never seen a recluse either but out of all the spiders they seem the worst to be bitten by and I dunno if they can climb good or squeeze through small spaces/jump at you or what.
For wolf spider/hobo ones I would have no issue with a terrarium though. excluding that wolf spiders carry their sacs so you can't remove it easily which could be pretty bad.
Thanks a lot anon, I'm still hoping to find my first Mactan for the starter experience, suppose I should get a medium jar tomorrow.

Wolfies (probably fem) can be kept in a small enclosure.
They won't bitch if they don't have to hunt their food. Pretty calm spider despite appearance.
