Geckos have variations in their preferences for food, physical contact, waking hours, amount of time spent hiding, etc within a range of normal behaviour. It is these things to which people refer when they say 'personality' in reference to herps.

That's not how it works. If you make the claim that purely instinct-guided animals supposedly have varying personalities, then surely you must have some credible sources to back that up.
