Are there any animals that give you the chills just by looking at them? For me it would have to be saltwater crocodiles they're just so prehistoric looking and frightening.

Sharks. Had an intense fear of them since childhood. It's worse now that I'm older. I don't go into the ocean any more. At least, not past neck-deep.

Most shark attacks on humans happen in waist deep water anon, remember that :^)

Cant think of any except Feral Cattle I have previously had an encounter with in real life.

Basically a beef bulldozer pissed off you dared to enter his territory and the ability to run through the trees you have to run around.

I can tolerate the ugly creepy crawlies. It's the giant animals that send shivers down my spine. How can anyone be so comfortable being close to something big enough to crush you with an accidental slap? It's just too surreal looking at a creature like this.

Wasp always have given me the creeps. Then I got stung by a few after accidentally putting my hand near a nest. Now I'm downright terrified of them. One of the most acute pains I've ever experienced desu.

Cicada killers are fucking spooky, quite aggressive sometimes.
I used to smoke all my reefer and cigarettes 3 feet from a bush where 100 of them lived, never got stung but I heard it's comparable to being shot. Two separate instances of being chased also.

>>
>>2164388
>I heard it's comparable to being shot
They get that reputation because they're scary as fuck. The sting isn't any worse than a simple bee sting. I stepped on a cicada killer barefoot when I was 10 and it wasn't nearly as painful as it was terrifying.
>>
>>2164392
Oh. I've been lied to.
They are scary as hell though.
They leave piles of cicada heads around their habitat just to increase their spook factor I guess.

>>2164388
With cicada killers being aggressive - hey only the males will get territorial, but dammit they don't have a stinger, they're just bluffing, they can't hurt you. The females have stingers but are extremely chill. They're about the most harmless huge wasps around. Let em perch on you and impress passers-by.

My pal's mom is a biology professor, and of the many places in the world she's done research, one of her riskiest was Uganda. She went on an expedition with a local chimpanzee expert, and in addition to stumbling upon entire sections of trees freshly flattened by stampeding elephants, they were able to locate the expert's primary chimp group.

They found the chimps in a clearing, and the just taken out some sort of four-legged animal and were eating it. This was apparently a very rare thing to catch in the act, so the expert was ecstatic. The two of them were staying very low to the ground and were keeping a sizable distance, though if the apes were pissed enough, there'd be no way for them to run. The rule was to not make eye contact, so they had to be ready to look away in an instant.

Finally, one of the chimps noticed them, and it immediately stood straight up, staring right at the two. She said it easily stood well over her own height, and she's a tall woman. They waited to make sure the apes were chill enough, and they got the hell out of Dodge.

Oh, she was also pregnant with my pal at the time.

I believe they've also earned the name "Lion-Killers."

he is still less likely to die by shark attack by going in only neck or shallower than he would be if he went into both shallow and deeper waters. not to mention that that is a misleading statistic, since that just happens to be where most the people are; not most of the evil sharks.

Ah yes wasps. I have much fun genociding them. I have two traps as well. This morning there were 5 wasps crawling around in one of them, and 30 dead ones.

Anyways for me its insects. They creep me out even harmless ones like beetles. Not flys, and mosquitos though. I like spiders unless they are in my house. I actually battled with a funnel web and hobo spider, the deal was if they impressed me they live another day. Best spider weapon is a broom. Pretty cool to see a silver dollar sized monster go full attack on a broom. Also sidenote i saw spider defensive stance enough to mimic it with my hand. My cat flipped his shit everytime i did it. Full wide eyed cat missile outta there. Same if i moved my arm like a snake.

>Hagfish are not often eaten, owing to their repugnant looks and sliminess. However the inshore hagfish, found in the Northwest Pacific,[26] is valued as food in Korea. The hagfish is kept alive and irritated by rattling its container with a stick, prompting it to produce slime in large quantities. This slime is used in a similar manner as egg whites in various forms of cookery in the region. The inshore hagfish, known as kkomjangeo (꼼장어) or meokjango (먹장어) in Korean and nuta-unagi (ぬたうなぎ) in Japanese, is the only member of the hagfish family with a seasonal reproductive cycle.

You know what? I like spiders, centipedes, I can dig giant tube worms, and I think squids are extremely fascinating. You can show me practically any animal and I won't get disturbed.

The two exceptions to this are jellyfish and june bugs. Back when I was still in middle school I went on a snorkeling trip and when I tried to get back to shore a whole swarm of jellyfish showed up and stung my dick a couple times. Not very enjoyable. As for June bugs, these fuckers show up every year in summer, and they show up by the truckload. One day my lawn looks completely normal. The next, it, and the whole neighborhood fills up with these green assholes. This would not be a problem if they were not the clumsiest species of insect I have ever heard of. If I stay outside for more than one minute, one or two of them are guaranteed to end up colliding with me.

One of these days one of them is going to careen straight towards me and end up poking my eye or heading up an earhole or nostril. I am emphatically not looking forward to that.

I should start bringing a tennis racket outside when they show up.
