I saw my bf's cat rolling around outside today and noticed a wound on his chest/belly area. Not uncommon, he's an outdoor cat who was feral most of his life and is pretty confrontational.

However, usually I just find scrapes. This is a hole. It's deep and about the same size as a pencil eraser. The skin around it is inflamed, a bit raw and the hair has seemingly fallen out. My pictures are blurry, he wouldn't cooperate long enough for my camera to focus.

Is this larvae? Or something else? I tried to spread his skin to look in there and didn't see anything. I've seen people squeeze these things to get larvae out but I don't want to hurt him unnecessarily. He's going to a vet Monday but in the meantime I'd like to know what others think it may be.

That looks more like a puncture wound. I wouldn't mess with it. Try to avoid making the animal move around a whole lot before the vet. Avoid any stress on the animal. Vet asap.

Ahh this makes me nervous since there's been a raccoon around lately. I wonder how it could have happened? There's no bleeding or scabbing which is why I assumed larvae.
>>
It could possibly be a ruptured cyst. I had to deal with one on a dog recently and it looked pretty much like this,

But still, vet. Better make sure.
>>
Drip a little rubning alcohol in there if you can, then watch. You might see movement.

Looks like a puncture wound. Is he picking at it? If so, put him in a cone. If he is eating and drinking normally, then he should be fine till Monday.
