There's some variation. It only shines silver from some angles though...

I had 3 generations of them in my garden. I enjoyed them-- they don't move much and build out-of-the-way.

European here, and I must say I'm rether fond of the cross spiders. They are supposedly one of the most common spiders here, but I don't see them that often.

Also, I've never found a cross spider that didn't build in a bush(although I stumbled upon a male roaming outside of my front door once).
