I'm 25 and kind of the same. I don't really have any close friends. Never had a girlfriend or went on a date, although a few girls have asked me out (I was just too scared to go through with it). I have a hard time opening up to people.

Have you tried going to the gym. I started going about 3 months ago. It really helps mentally and it feels nice to have a goal. When I first started, I was really nervous and self conscious, but now I actually look forward to going. Sometimes I go just to do abs or run.

What you should be doing is trying to be more interesting. You need to learn how to make people keep talking to you. To do that, you have to keep talking to people and making connections. Go to a bar, don't be a fucking pussy, and talk to the first woman you see. And for fucks sake don't just say hi and ask questions, that's boring as fuck. Tell her things you notice about her, hair, clothes, shoes, eyes, whatever. Be creative. Be witty. If it doesn't go well, move on to the next one. Eventually, you'll start to pick up on things and it will get easier.

I'd much rather be asked questions to open a dialogue than to be talked at. But I'm a male so maybe that's the meme? Do women just like to be talked at about obvious things about themselves? I'm almost 28 and have this exact same issue. I can't really give you much advice, but I have questions. How much control do you have over your life?
How much will/zeal/energy do you have to expend in pursuit of your goal of having a female partner?
How about time? How much of it do you have, and how do you end up using it?
The problem in the end could be your attitude to life.
Aspectsof your character that you grew and evolved with till date which characterize you as a loner, and which, I find, are not so easy to shed.
You could set a goal of transforming your psyche, elevating your energy and being more daring, for the sake of others.
Or you could accept yourself and work instead on self realization and constant improvement. In which case you'll probably have to use specific dating channels to get yourself a future partner.

Whatever you choose will depend on your effort and realistic hopes.

In my own case, amongst other issues, memory and strength of will is very low. Must fix this while improving the self and setting standards.
