What should I do while walking past people I don't know? When I look at them I feel like a creep and when I stare at the floor or some object I feel like an autist.

Well I think glancing at them and then looking at something else is socially acceptable, but I see no problem with ignoring them, it's what I prefer people to do

If I glance at them what should I be attempting to comunicate? Should I smile at them?
Just look straight ahead or whatever. You don't have to fucking stare at people down the street. Ez mode, look at your phone.

>Ez mode, look at your phone.
that's the 'low confidence autist' mode
alpha mode: look straight ahead

Well what do you want out of it?
If you want people to leave you alone, leave them alone. If you want people to smile at you, smile at them.
It's not autistic to look down, it's autistic to overthink literally just walking past someone. Over thinking is what will cause you to do the Virgin hunch and nervous walk which will draw bad attention. Just focus on something else

If they make eye contact with you just kinda hit them with the "What's up" head nod.
If it's a girl just do the former or smile and say "good morning/afternoon"
Only if they make eye contact back.

I'll try this thank you anon.
Also thanks to everyone else who posted. It's true that I'm overthinking this but there is very little I can do about that so it's at least good to know what the proper etiquette is.
