How do I be more genuine and less self conscious when interacting with people?

For example
>walking into work
>two janitors in my office usually hanging out, shooting the shit
>nice guys
>I say hi to them, make a bit of small talk about sports.
>I never know what to say, I just want to be friendly

I don't know. How do I do better at socializing? I'm always in my head worrying I am judgmental or fake or seem a little gay or something.

Practice it. Keep doing what you just did with the janitors, but with other people also. Don't over worry about how you come off, but don't stay awkwardly long.
