If you don't want bumps from infection, part of what makes ingrown hairs unsightly and red rather than a brief, invisible discomfort, is infection. Body wash is a detergent, not a disinfectant. Use a disinfectant on the freshly shaved skin, like diluted rubbing alcohol? It's aftershave for your junk.
