Are any of these FM transmitters that jack into an ipod worth getting? I had one before and it was a piece of shit but I'm wondering if good ones exist. Or is it worth the extra money and installation effort to get a car radio with an aux jack in it.

They don't
Flash Drive>Aux Cord>Blu tooth>Cassette Spoofer>FM Spoofer
My 86 Olds doesn't have even a cassette player so I'm stuck with one.

I would recommend looking into getting an aux jack. With my old car, it turned out that the head unit had two RCA jacks at the back, so all I needed was a $2 3.5mm female to RCA adapter cord which I easily strung out of the console farings or into the glovebox. Saved me a lot of money as I was considering buying a whole new unit.
Look at the manual and/or pull it out and look at the actual thing.

That is really interesting, thanks for the tip. What year was your car?

It was 2001

Cool. Mine is six years older but maybe there's a chance there's one in it.

Yeah - you lose nothing, and stand to gain a bunch, by just checking

For $10 on eBay, there is an FM transmitter that plugs into the cigarette lighter. You get a thumb drive to plug into that and you're good to go with gigs of music.
